“Netari!” I scream, deflecting a potentially fatal blow from a soldier and giving an offensive attack. “I thought I told you to stay out of this!” Netari had directly disobeyed me. She’s going to get herself killed!
“Stop worrying about me!” Netari shouts above the sounds of war, the screams and the battle cries and the grinding clashes of metal on metal. “Worry about yourself!” A particularly skilled soldier knocks me off my feet, knocking the wind out of my chest as I fall onto the ground.
“I’ve got this covered!” I say the moment I recover my breath. I jump up to block another blow, and make my way towards Netari. “You need to leave, now.”
“I’m old enough to handle myself,” Netari says, so casual as she blocked with double daggers and sent soldiers reeling. It was as if we were having a normal conversation, but we were in the middle of a deadly war, fighting for our lives while we talked about maturity.
We apparently had gotten used to dealing with dangerous situations, as you could’ve guessed.
“No, you are not old enough,” I tell her firmly, gritting my teeth and sending a soldier flying with a spinning blow.
“Well, you can’t make me go back,” Netari retorts, her eyes flashing challenge. I grimace.
“When we make it out of this, you are so totally dead,” I answer.
Netari’s smile slips away. “Let’s hope I die by your hand and not theirs.”
Thanks! Awww I feel bad for your characters Jason and Blake. It was well-written though.
