Our next meeting is Thursday, February 20, 7-8pm EST.
During this meeting we will celebrate the participants of the short story workshop.
Participants: Your final drafts are due February 19. If you would like to read your piece at the meeting, please also include a 500 word excerpt.
Open Mic during this meeting will be limited to short story workshop participants.
If you’re not able to join us this week, I will send out information about the assignment.
UCF Book Festival
The UCF Book Festival is April 5th. They are hosting a teen writing workshop. If you are in the Orlando area, check out the festival and info for the workshop. The workshop is free, you just have to register. You can find more information and register here.
Black History Month
We are looking for student volunteers to read a piece for our Black History Month Read-In! 5 minutes of your time is all that is needed on Thursday, February 27th from either 2-4PM or 6-8PM. This event is sponsored by our National English Honor Society and they are hoping for your participation to make this a memorable celebration of African-American culture! Do you want to share a book you’ve read or an author you love with the club? Maybe you read about a writing technique or idea that you’d like to share.
Literature Chat Requirements:
-You must be present to discuss your slide and have a mic to be able to speak to the group.
-You must create a powerpoint slide about what you’d like to share.
-You must email your piece by Wednesday, February 19.
-Your powerpoint should be limited to one slide.
-Topics must be school appropriate.
-Topics will be read on a first come, first served basis as time allows.
