Who You Are by Cristi

You’re not just a person,
Who wakes up every morning,
And eats breakfast like everybody else.

You’re not just a person,
Who breathes,
Then breathes out,
Like everybody else.

You’re not just a person,
Who sees things,
And decides whether or not you
Like what you see, like everybody else.

You’re not just a person,
Who sings with the radio,
When you are in the car,
Like everybody else.

You’re not just a person,
Who closes your eyes,
When you are scared,
Like everybody else.

You’re not just a person,
Who smiles at random times,
Because you can,
Like everybody else.

You are a person, yes,
But you are not just a person.

You are your favorite breakfast, the one you eat every day.
You are the moments that take your breath away.
You are the things you look at and actually see.
You are the song that you only sing when you’re in the car, by yourself.
You are the things that make you glad you don’t have to close your eyes all the time.
You are the words or thoughts or memories that make you smile at random times.

But above all, know that you’re not just a person. You are thoughts and smiles, and breakfasts’, and breaths, and fears and songs and sights and everything that makes you happy.

THAT’S who you are.
