Today’s prompt:

Write a haiku dedicated to the emotion ‘grief’.

Post your poem to comments!

Please read the NaPoWriMo page for details on how the challenge works, how to comment,  and how you can participate this month, no matter what your personal writing challenge is for the month of April. Remember that work shared this month is shared in precisely that spirit: sharing, as opposed to critiquing.

  1. Grief is only there
    Because our love never dies
    For those who pass on

  2. – Two poems for this day! One following this prompt, another slightly for NaPoWriMo’s prompt

    Your corners unwind,
They are lifted by a breeze of laughter.
Your muscles relax, your indents cave in,
A memory is being stored for memoriam,
    To recall on happier days.
    It takes little effort,
Most resist, because it requires no barriers.
One must be fully in tune with the moment,
And one must learn to smile.

    Grief strikes at the heart,
    Not for the cold memories,
    But to warm the heart.
