  1. Sasha had shambled out of her bed and into her comfortable pair of slippers, then proceeded to carry on with her usual morning schedule. This entailed her sipping a cup of freshly brewed coffee and watering her flowers. Still looking like she had just rolled out of bed, the young woman made her way outside and began to continue her routine when she noticed a peculiar object near her mailbox. Upon closer inspection, she was able to see that someone had attached a small heart shaped balloon to her mailbox. Curious as to why someone would do such a thing, Sasha went towards her mailbox in hopes of finding out who the balloon was from.

For as long as she could remember, she never had liked romantic gestures, of course, she appreciated the effort, but found the whole thing seemed sappy to her. After opening the mailbox, Sasha was greeted with more unwelcome gifts, specifically a card. Deciding that her curiosity was more important than her disdain for the romantic token, Sasha opened the card and read it aloud to herself.

“Your eyes are like stars,” the card began with. Not even done with the first sentence, Sasha burst out into laughter. The secret admirer’s heart was in the right place, but that was one of the tackiest things she had ever read.

The young woman went back inside her home, promising to herself that she would finish reading the card some other time. She placed on the counter and eventually forgot about it. For weeks it sat there, untouched and unread until it was thrown out with the rest of the garbage in the kitchen. Sasha never found out who had written the note and was absolutely fine with that.

  2. Walking down the driveway at exactly 3 PM wasn’t all that eventful because Emilee did the same thing every single day to get the mail. Opening the mailbox, she raised her eyebrow when she saw that only one small envelope stared back at her. She plucked it out, and saw that there was no return address or any identifying feature that could tell her who sent it. Opening up the little yellow envelope, red rose petals dropped to the ground out of it. Emilee smiled slightly, then opened up the card.
“You are the prettiest girl I have ever met. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you, hoping to see you again soon. Your voice sounds like angels and your smile is so bright that it challenges the sun every time I see it. If you did not know this, I hope you truly believe it now. You are beautiful,” the card read. Emillee smiled and shrugged, tucking the note back into the envelope. All of that was true!
