Today’s prompt:

Write a humor poem where your speaker is having an epiphany. What epiphany is that?

Please read the NaPoWriMo page for details on how the challenge works and how you can participate this month, no matter what your personal writing challenge is for the month of April. Please read How to Post During NaPoWriMo. Remember that work shared this month is shared in precisely that spirit: sharing, as opposed to critiquing.

  1. I haven’t got a clue about what an epiphany is. However, humor is something I hope I specialize in. I would like to officially declare Lark Adventures. This is the last one for this week, the next will be published next Friday… if not later because I need time to think of them, lol. We will have a special guest on today’s Lark Adventure.

Me: Getting up at 6:00 a.m. Walking to the closet. I open the closet mid yawn and – ahhh!!!!
Lark! get out of my closet! How did you get in here?!
Lark: Good morning human. i want to try to stop you from walking dogs.
Me: I need to, I told them and they already paid me.
Lark: It is bad enough you walk Faith, yet you can’t walk me? did you see the piece of Artistic Inspiration I had on the ramp to my food bowl? Speaking of which, is empty? How dare it be empty!
Me: Picking Lark Up. If you go outside, you’ll be out all day and then at night, like last time, I’m going to start crying and assume you were eaten by a coyote. Please, don’t go outside.
Lark, Mimicking my tone: Please don’t hold me like a baby.
Me: Baby. (Gasping) You had a hairball on your ramp?
Lark: I told you it was an artistic surprise. I was inspired by my food. To have a hairball. oh look, here comes Faith. She would be honored to eat it.
Me: Faith, if you eat the hairball, I will throw up.
Faith: Lark, I have been looking for you, your wise excellency. Your majesty. And Alexa? I need to go outside and do my business.
Me: I am not even dressed yet!
Lark: She isn’t Faith, and she is tending to ME first. as I am more important. Plus, she is right, she is not wearing those ridiculous daytime things to cover the fact she is hairless, like my cousins, the Spinx.
Me: I am not a cat, nor am I hairless!
Lark: Yet Faith and I have fur. Whatever you want to believe human, but you are hairless, bald, poor thing.
    Me: YOU are ANIMALS!
Lark: No, Humans are, we – I am a majestic creature. Now put me down on my food table and feed me… now.
    Me: Faith, can you wait.
    Lark: NOW HUMAN!!!!!
    Me: Alright.
Faith bows: I am so sorry your most beloved kinglyness majesty. I would never take your first place in line away.
Me: It’s already 6:30! I am going to be late!
Lark: I should let you pay me with chin scratches for allowing you the honor of feeding me.
Me: Okay, there, I fed you, Faith, let’s go outside, I need to get dressed.
Lark Laughs: Run human, run for my amusement and then go to that place of dogs to walk them.

I hope you like it, it was last minute, I did not have a lot of time to think. This has been another episode of Lark Adventures! Stay tuned for next week’s.

    1. Oh my gosh, these are so hilarious Alexa! I am staying tuned and I cannot wait for the next episode of “lark adventures!” Haha, these are amazing, keep them up! πŸ˜€

    2. Yay!! I love these!!!! I will stay tuned for next week’s, and this realllyyyyy brought joy to my day.
Considering my cousin’s horse, Mocha died. I was really close to her, I helped train where when she was a two-year old. I really needed it, thank you so much for writing this, Alexa! ❀ 😦

      1. Thank you, I really hope I can get over it soon, although I’ll always miss her. 😦 ❀

      2. I’m so sorry for your loss Sofia, that’s horrible! It will get better, I am so sorry. πŸ™‚ ❀

      3. Thank you so much, Gabby. I really hope it does get better soon. Thank you for the kind words. ❀

      4. It will, trust me, Ive lost many pets, never something the size of a horse, but dogs are very tragic to lose. Spice was more of a recent loss, and she was bitten my a rattle snake, about a year ago, it still hurts to think about, but its less painful now. Time heals all wounds, you’ll get through this. πŸ™‚ ❀ I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet, and I couldn't imagine something like a horse, I'm so sorry. 😦 ❀

      5. Thank you Gabby, I needed that. 😦 I hope it’ll heal soon, it’s so sad to think about her. We had such fun times together. ❀ Also, I'm so sorry for Spice's loss. 😦 ❀

    3. Thank you everyone !!! I am so happy that you like it! Sofia, I know how much you love horses and I am so sorry about Mocha. I really am. 😦 it is so sad. But thank you everyone for your comments!

  2. …there…is…a…noise…coming…out…of…me
I’m not my own voice…not like those empowering Ted Talks said!
I’m not my own words…not like those books on poetry spoke of!
I’m not my own thoughts…not like that video on democracy said!
I’m not my own noises…not like those whales that sing songs!
I’m just what that person puts on!
I want to hear my own voice,
    Say my own words,
    Own my thoughts,
    Sing my own songs,
    I thought I’d be —
“Greetings, what can I help you with?”
    Oh, here we go again.

Okay so Idek if that made sense….if you have Siri you might understand, or Alexa, or pretty much any robot that talks lol.

    1. LOL This is so relatable!!! Siri is so annoying sometimes, lol! πŸ˜€ Once we were in a cabin over in Jacksonville, and we wanted to go to the store. Siri sent us about 105 miles down, and the store was CLOSED! πŸ˜€ It was funny, haha! But, great job on the poem, I love it! ❀ πŸ™‚

    2. I love this Alyssa! But I have to disagree, for me, the Alexa is worse than Siri. My neighbor has one and she cannot say my name in her house. I love your poem!

    3. Haha! This is awesome, soooo relatable! Try Cortona, shes actually not that bad! Lol, mazing poem! πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚

  3. (This is unrelated to the prompt)

    Somewhere far away from here,
    Places that could spark fear.
A whole new world, a world outside our atmosphere.
Chasing my dreams, it seems to be so near,
Even though I’m still stuck here.

  4. Unrelated to the prompt
She’s made me believe in fiction
Because, there’s no way she could be real
The way she dances with the wind
I have to tell you, nothing as beautiful as her could exist
    She must be fiction,
    Have you seen her smile?
    Have you heard her voice?
    She can’t possibly be real
    Something so perfect,
    So beautifully divine,
    Something so graceful,
Oh how I wish she could be mine
She’s made me believe in fiction
    So surreal,
    So majestic,
I’ve never fallen in love so quickly
    Leave me out of it,
    Leave me alone,
    I don’t wanna know,
    So close your mouth
Take your running lips somewhere else
    Voices tell me secrets,
Really, they don’t mean it, (at least that’s what they say)
    Saying evil things,
    About those despaired, innocent people
Daunting, is what I call them
    Their vicious, controlling voices
All I can wonder, is why are they so cruel?
    Why is everyone so demanding,
    So full of destructive demeanors?
I’m tired of hearing your tiny secrets
Leave me out of it leave me alone
    I don’t wanna know
    Keep your secrets to yourself
Tell your rumors to someone else

    1. Oh my goodness. The first poem is just…too…PERFECT! I truly love it’s symbolism!! ❀ The second one is fantastic too, so relatable to the world today. If I may ask, what is the second poem's title! Great job, Alyssa! ❀ πŸ™‚

      1. It doesn’t really have a title….I was thinking Rumors, but I’m horrible at titles!

  5. I looked up the word epiphany, and here’s what google said: “Striking appearance or something that triggers a sudden result; either in humor or any other.” Let’s see!
    I hit the remote once,
    Twice, Three times,
    And groan and sigh.
    This TV does not
    Work, and I feel like
    Throwing the remote.
I throw it on the sofa,
    And march to the TV.
I lift it from the furniture,
    Check the cables in behind.
    Everything seems to be
Right, maybe it’s be who isn’t.
I Sit back down with the remote,
And peer closely at a button.
I look back up to the TV,
And realize it’s been off all along!
Haha, this has happened to me plenty!! Has it happened to you guys? Lol, I hope you enjoy!! ❀ Any comments are warmly welcomed! πŸ™‚

      1. Haha, thank you Gabby! I’m glad it’s fun and relatable at the same time; that is exactly what I was going for! ❀ πŸ™‚

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Alyssa! I am a crazy person, so it’s probably only happened to me, XD Thanks for the sweet comment!

  6. I was walking along,
    Minding my own business,
    With my dog Kong,
    When I suddenly hear this;

“Sarah, aren’t you supposed to be walking the dog?”
    And as I look down,
    I have an epiphany,
My mind must have been a fog,
For my dog was not even with me.
This was just a silly thing I thought of trying to contribute to NaPoWriMo πŸ˜€ Hope you guys still enjoy reading it πŸ™‚

    1. This is hilarious Isabella!!! Haha, I am so forgetful like this, luckily I don’t have to walk my dogs or else I would probably do this every time! XD πŸ˜› I love it!!!

    2. I laughed out loud so hard!!! πŸ˜€ Fantastic!! I’m leash training Snowy, so this is really relatable!!! ❀
Also, Gabby, I know you know about dogs, do you have any tips to help Snowy get used to brushing and being on a leash? Thank you!

  7. A Tale of a Dog
    What is this I see?
    It’s stalking me!
    Running to escape
    I roll and slide
    It’s still at my behind.
    Prancing and dancing
    It’s still there!
    Oh wait,
    It’s my tail!
Based off of my new puppy!

    1. AW! This is SO CUTE Naomi!!! I love this so much, I love the title too, I assume the pun is intended, tail, tale, I love it! Super cute!! πŸ˜€ ❀

  8. It was a shock
    It made my day
    I smiled
    Everything lasted a while
    I cant believe it
    I’m filled with such happiness
    Cancer can take
    But it wont break
    The spirit inside
    Don’t forget you’re still alive
    The petscan came back negative
Oh how much I would give
    I’m so happy for you
Is there anything I could do?
    Amber, you made it
The pain, the hurt, you could take it
You lost your hair, and your strength
    But that’s okay
    You’re still beautiful
    And even though you’re weak
    You’re still meaningful
    Don’t say that you’re bleak
So as today ends and I say a final prayer
I thank God that you are still here
Thank you to my friends and all of your support
I love it when the world is such a good sport
I’ll be praying, hoping it stays away
So cancer never again tries to take your life away.

This is based off of my friend Amber, I don’t know if anyone remembers previous posts about her, and how she was going through cancer, but her last Pet scans results came out negative, so she is now cancer free and in recovery! Thank you all who kept her in your thoughts and prayers, I am so happy she is better!!!! πŸ™‚ ❀

    1. I remeber the poem about Amber, I am SO glad she is better!!! Please let her know that I am really happy for her and that I hope cancer will never hurt her again!!! Really great job, Gabby! And, Amber, if you are reading this; Just to let you know how happy I am that you are okay!! Yay!!! ❀ πŸ˜€

      1. I will!!! Thank you so much, I know she’ll appreciate this!!!! You are too kind!!! πŸ˜€ ❀

  9. I can see your halo and I can see it fade away.
Will you chase after it? Never let it go; hold it close to your soul.
Will you find it? Place it where it’ll show, and let it take control.
I can see your halo. Please don’t let it go away.

Blending into the fade. Discouraging your own fate.
Following the marching crowd. Smiling though they shouldn’t be proud.
A parade of halos going away.
Maybe we should stay low to keep from going astray.

  10. A bird flies by a mirror’
He stares in wonder and terror
Wondering, who is that bird staring at him
He begins to fly over to it
    Closer and closer it gets
Its so close, it can almost hit
The bird that is getting nearer
BAM!!! He ran into the mirror
AH!!! Screams the girl who grabs
Her shiny mirror purse and slaps
The bird as its trying to slam
Into her purse, she screamed and ran
    Throwing up her hands
    As the bird chased her
And its own reflection in the mirror.

This was harder than I thought it would be, but I made it from two perspectives, the birds and the girl’s even though it was in third person. Tell me what you think!!! πŸ™‚
