She and I by Alyssa H

I was the ocean

And she was the waves

Falling together

Making ourselves brave

Dancing on the shore

Hoping to find true love

Wishing this could always be enough

Because I was the ocean

But she was the storm

Crashing against me

Until we were nothing more

Than waves and broken limbs

From homes we had once danced within

Our perfect match was yet to come

But finally it came

Yes, I am the ocean

And she is the sky

Together we fit perfectly

She and I

Our blue horizons

Touching so gently

In the darkness of the night

It was as though

We had always been this way

So perfect and beautiful

But we knew it wouldn’t stay

For when the sun began to rise

And the heat came out to play

My darling sky, became so distant

And so I began to cry and pray

“Let my sky come back and fix me, let her dance across my seas”

For all I’ve ever needed

She’s living above the breeze
